bricks and brome

the professional, personal, and family life of Jim Posey

Jim is a semi-retired construction specification writer based near Calgary, Alberta. Hence Bricks. He is an amateur botanist devoted to the native flora of Alberta, and to limiting modifications of native ecosystems by invasive alien species. Hence Brome.

Ongoing professional activities include specifications for particularly interesting projects; 2-D, 3-D, and 4-D modeling of heat transfer and moisture movement in building materials and assemblies (using a general purpose PDE solver in preference to dedicated software); simple experiments to illuminate neglected aspects of building science; and technical writing relating to building enclosures.

Botanical interests focus on the flora of Alberta, and invasive plant species in the region.

For family and friends, this site provides a place to share memories of Poseys past and present.

brome

Brome will get you more than an infestation of invasive alien grass. Here you may find photographs of plants (as if the web was not already flooded with them) and links to sites of botanical interest, relating to both native and invasive taxa.

family

Here members and friends of Jim's family will find memories of the past, family photos, stories, sound recordings, and an opportunity to make their own contributions to our collective memories.

impedimenta

Things you might need that Jim needs no longer.
